Today's Apocalypse Sign: Surprise!!

During the A-Z Challenge you get the opportunity to visit so many new sites and discover new things. As you go from site to site and look at some of the things the writer has posted, maybe some of the things on their sidebar, you can pick up on new items of interest. My surprise addition is the following:

This was the case on 15-yr old Jessica McKendry's blog. I picked up the Nightwish virus and have been listening to them for a few days now. As much as music is a past time of mine (listening not playing) I been enjoying a lot of European rock bands and Nightwish is a Finnish goth/metal band that really rocks.

The first three videos below show their rock opera style, a more acoustic style with a different lead singer, and a full on power rock song not given away by the title. The last video is just fun for the picture on the keyboard. Maybe you too will add them to your play list! Thanks Jess!
Siren

The Islander

I Wish I Had An Angel

Phantom Of The Opera

For bonus points, who can identify the photo on the front of the keyboardists keyboard? Hint: It's most visible in the last video.

T you on Monday!

Alright I'm here now.

Actually I'm not really boycotting anyone, but I have less time to spend reading blogs now anyway. I tend to be playing catch up read on most of them, which is great 'cos I always have a few posts on each, but the challenge just means I'm even further behind then usual.
Good job I didn't take part really - I would NEVER catch up.

"T" you on Monday....cute.

Okay, I don't have ANY idea who any of these are. Whoa...do I live under a rock or something? Thing is, there are no rocks this far south...maybe I hide my head in the sand while the world spins around me.

Hi Chuck. To be honest, I remember that you are doing the A-Z challenge this month. More power to you. And as for me dropping by I have only a couple of times so far...this is the time of year that Bud and I are so busy with yard work and birding [they're migrating now] that I'm rarely online long enough to post a blog and visit just those that have visited me.

I do hope you're having a great time with the challenge...and hope to see you often as the weeks move on. Have a great weekend...

Fantastic! Thanks for the introduction - I had fun watching these! ;-)

As for the last video, when I first looked at it I wondered quite what Sir Lloyd Webber would make of that renditon - then again, I remembered there's this 'thrash-metal' moment in the sequel to the Phantom hit stage show (Love Never Dies) which is given the 'dark' treatment!! :-)

Not sure, but that looks like Cap'n Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp)on the front of the keyboard.....

Dude, Nightwish is awesome! I have all of their discs. Their video for Amaranth has fifty-six million views on YouTube - they are HUGE in Europe.

Stephen: I'm glad you enjoyed it. They really rock!

Cowgirl: I actually would have enjoyed reading your posts alphbetically organized. Maybe next year. Thanks for coming by!

Secondhand: Not sure I get it but...uh, thanks?

Anni: I also think you would be fantastic in the A-Z, maybe next year! You have a great weekend too!

Jess: You're welcome...it just happened to coincide with my Euro rock education so I thank YOU!

Alex: You couldn't have clued me in a little earlier?? I saw in Wiki that they are huge in Europe. Glad you enjoy them too!

Donna: I like it...symphonic metal...I must be the last one to this party.

Angela Brown said...

No, Chuck. You are not the last one to the party :-) Hope you can make room for me. There are, apparently, a lot of sounds making waves from Europe and crashing on over to us here.

Doh!?

I posted a comment here yesterday in praise of your videos - and added a link to the sequel of Phantom ....

...either it didn't arrive .....

Angela: Yes there are quite s few really good rockin' bands that have been unknown for the most part here in the states but just killin' it in Europe. Check Volbeat...a great Danish band.

Sue: Never saw it and I would never ignore you...you brandish knitting needles for cripes sake!

Stephanie: Glad I could pass on my find to you.

Alberta: Go for it!

I love Nightwish and I have been a fan and follower of Jess's blog for a while now. You make a good point about how we are able to learn so many new and interesting things about every topic in the world from this challenge. I hope to do a few blog post in May, sharing some of what I have learned and highlighting some of the new blogs I discovered through the challenge.

Chuck said...

Story: No worries...I am glad for anyone reading any of my old stuff!

Melissa: That is a pretty neat idea about posting on some of the newly learned stuff. I may adopt that idea myself.
