Today is election day. It is our national day to reform or reaffirm our law makers and leaders from city governments to the White House. I am amazed at the changes of the election tabulation process that have occurred since I was old enough to actually know what was happening. Used to be that election night was like Christmas eve...you had to go to bed and get up early in the morning to know the final results. Now it is before you go to bed.
A couple things that the technology age has brought us is what I consider mathmatical miracles.
1. With 0% of the vote in winners in several races have been declared. WTF??
2. With half the country not even showing any decision activity, the president could be re-elected. Or more broadly stated, the presidency decided.
3. Before the polls even close in the far western states...the election may be over before the last votes are cast. Rendering them moot points.
4. Ohio (my home state) seems to be the linchpin state that dictates the election. Even though there are only 18 electoral votes at stake. Buckeyes rule!!
5. Even though this is not math related, how can less than 100,000 people vote in an entire state (Alabama). Are you still allowed to just make your mark in order to get registered??
All kidding aside, I hope you got out to express your opinion on this national election day.
