Gatorade?? Just A Charade

Well good news folks. Gatorade has decided to remove the patented flame retardant from their sports drink. Glad I never liked this crap.

I think it served a purpose when football players dumped a 5-gallon bucket of this stuff on the winning coach...at least he would not spontaneously combust!

I order my own ingredients and make my own drinks. No crap and no sugar. Still sweet and tasty. It is the only way to go. I will save that for another post.

Until then, give this "drink" a PASS when you are shopping this weekend. Ironically that is something I have always said.

To your health!

BTW, here is a quote from the news article in the link above. This will not make you feel any better. BVO is the acronym for the flame retardant.

"PepsiCo, based in Purchase, N.Y., is replacing the BVO in Gatorade with an ingredient called sucrose acetate isobutyrate, which Carter said will maintain the flavor and taste of the drinks."

Holy cow -- that's bizarre. Glad I've only drunk maybe one or two of those things in my life. I really feel sorry for those athletes in the commercials with the stuff sweating our of their pores in radioactive color...

Milo: Well at least they replaced that with another ingredient no one knows what it really is.

Alex: Amazing what the FDA will allow in our food and drink.
