Day One Of The New Year - 2013

Some resolutions may be forthcoming but for today I will bask in the glory of a New Year's day unspoiled by any baggage of negativity. After watching Finding Nemo in Blu-Ray 3-D last night with the wife and dogs I have unlimited optimism for 2013. Though it includes a precarious numeral for all who believe in such things (and for them it will be a loooong year), thirteen is what we have to deal with.

So for now I am off to the theatre to see The Hobbit with my wife. (Hope it is not too crowded!)

Happy New Year to you all!

Enjoy the Hobbit - hope you remember to skip the large drink. And thirteen or not, it will be a great year.

Hi, Chuck - what did you make if 'The Hobbit'? I wasn't as impressed as the original LOTR movies, but I will still go to see the others in this new trilogy.

Watched 'Jack Reacher' last week - had to suspend my disbelief of Tom Cruise in the title role (if you've read Lee Childs' 'Reacher' books there is an obvious anomaly!) - but it was an OK action caper, I suppose.

Next up is 'Les Mis' - looking fwd to it! Have seen the stage production in the West End (London) 6 times & on tour a couple of times but I think the screen version will lack some of the 'magic' of the stage production - we'll see!

Enjoy the movie!!! Bud and I went to see Les Miserables yesterday....it was good, but not all it was hyped up to be, in my opinion. I don't care for Russell Crowe, but I must confess right here and now...he was the best singer.

By the way, you asked me to tell you about the book "Doc" [about Doc Holliday] --- it's okay. Thing is, if you saw the movie from long ago with Val Kilmer as Doc H ---this woman, the author, seems to have gone with his demeanor. Very close to "Doc" in personality and narratives. She also, in my opinion, spent way too much time in the text with the Earp brothers. Still a good book.

I hope you enjoyed The Hobbit as much as I did. Our theatre was barely crowded.

Damn, I'm jealous. I want to see The Hobbit, but can't find anyone who'll accompany me on such an adventure. My girlfriend doesn't want to see it, and everyone else I know has already seen it.

Anyway, here's hoping 2013 isn't as foreboding as the "13" inclines.

Alex: Skipped the large drink and went with the giant popcorn and small water. Made it all the way!! Enjoyed the movie but a little to long and drawn out.

Sue: I liked it but not as well as the LOTR series. I will let the jury stay out until I see all of them. I know I will be seeing Jack Reacher as I really enjoy Tom Cruise as an actor. He has another movie out this spring called Oblivion...pre-viewed it before The Hobbit...another one I will see for sure.

Anni: Les Mis is on the agenda for the wife and I next week.

As for Doc...I absolutely think Val Kilmer made Tombstone. His portrayal of Doc Holliday was masterful acting to me. I still quote his lines almost daily to someone!!

Monti: Happy New Year to you...and thanks.

Elsie: I did enjoy it a lot and I was surprised...for a holiday, there couldn't have been more than 15 people in the 3-D theatre. It was nice.

Chiz: Just take your dog and explain he used to be a Hobbit in another life. Let me know how that works!

...a quick return to pay you a visit again ---So, how was Hobbit?

And, as for your response to my comment from the other day --- I too think Val Kilmer made the movie!! "Wyatt, I am Rolling"!!

I've always wondered why poor 13 gets such a bad rap. Hope you enjoyed the movie! I haven't seen it yet, but I have to admit that I was really disappointed when I learned that it was a trilogy. Still, I'm looking forward to seeing it.

Happy New Year! Sadly I won't get my wife to come and see The Hobbit with me. (I only just introduced her to Star Wars!) Hope you'll feed back to us.

Hilary: Thanks...I am sure you will educate me on some 13 info I have no current knowledge of.

Robyn: Hey, I didn't have perfect attendance in school...why should my blogging be any different!

Anni: The Hobbit was pretty good but I do believe some scenes could have been shortened to cut the running time down about 20 minutes or so.

"You're a daisy if ya do!"

Stephanie: I think a trilogy is going to stretch this too far. The fact that the running time of this first one was much longer than it needed to be kind of underscores that. All in all I still enjoyed it.

Nick: Tell her it is a chick flick!

I will be passing on The Hobbit simply because I cannot sit through a movie that long.

I am optimistic about 2013 and probably should watch Nemo again!

Happy New Year! Belated, but sincere.
I REALLY want to see the Hobbit. I understand that it will involve three movies. I'll be back later to catch up!

Tracy: The 3-D Nemo on Blu-Ray was awesome!

Pat: Yeah it'll be three movies that probably could have been one really good one. The Hobbit is a little long and you can easily see some spots they drug on too long. 20 to 30 minutes less would have good.
