Today's Apocalypse Sign: Zeppelin. Greatest. End Of Discussion.

Kasmir Live

20 million people applied for tickets to Zeppelin's London's O2 Arena 2007 reunion show...for 20,000 seats. Let that soak in for just a minute. 20,000,000. It was a Guiness World Record for the most in demand event ticket ever.

Zeppelin disbanded in 1980 after John Bonham's sudden death and had never performed as a group again. Almost 30 years later that many people clamored against huge odds for a chance to see these musical icons play. Bonham's son Jason is a fantastic drummer in his own right so this is as close to a reunion show, true reunion show, as it gets. The soon to be released Celebration Day DVD is THAT show. Today is the release date and I have ordered mine already.

One of my new favorite shows of this season is Revolution. After being a huge fan of another post-apocalyptic series, Jericho, this is the series I have been waiting for to fill the void. I was thrilled to find out that Zeppelin music is going to be featured in tonight's episode. See news article (obvs written last week):

LOS ANGELES — What tunes fit a post-apocalyptic society? For NBC's freshman drama "Revolution," the answer is Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" and "Since I've Been Loving You."

The songs will be featured in next week's episode of "Revolution," on the same day that Led Zeppelin's "Celebration Day" album and a companion documentary on DVD will be released.

Corporate synergy led to the deal for the onetime rock band that rarely allows use of its music in Hollywood projects. "Revolution" is produced in association with Warner Bros. Television, and Led Zeppelin has a deal with Warner Music Group's publishing arm.

But it was Eric Kripke, creator and executive producer of "Revolution," who brought his series and the band together.

When Warner-Chappell Music sent out an email asking if any producers on the studio lot would be interested in using Led Zeppelin songs, Kripke jumped at the chance.

"The speed and overwhelming enthusiasm with which I responded, I think, frankly weirded them out a little," said the self-described "massive Led Zeppelin fan."

His credentials: Between "Revolution" and "Supernatural," the CW drama he created, Kripke said he's probably used Led Zeppelin references in the titles of some 20 episodes. "Revolution," about an American family struggling with the nation's sudden loss of all electrity and all the technology it powered, was in part inspired by the band's music and its sense of "mythic adventure," he said.

Warner made a logical pick with "Revolution": The series benefits from a 10 p.m. EST Monday berth after NBC's hit singing contest "The Voice" and started strong in the ratings, especially with the advertiser-favored young adult demographic.

The Led Zeppelin-accented episode of "Revolution" will air 10:01 p.m. EST Monday, Nov. 19. A "Revolution" promo spot featuring "Kashmir" will air throughout this week on NBC, with an extended version available on the network's website.

The "Celebration Day" projects document the band's 2007 reunion concert at London's 02 Arena. Original members Plant, Page and John Paul Jones, along with Jason Bonham, son of the late drummer John Bonham, played to honor Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun.

For the group, which disbanded after John Bonham's 1980 death, the concert was its first full show in 27 years. The documentary, including hits "Whole Lotta Love" and "Stairway To Heaven," was released in theaters last month.

This is a great interaction of the group...

Save it to your RealPlayer and listen to it later. If you are a Zeppelin fan you can't miss it. Can you believe Jimmy Page is almost 70 years old??? Crazy.

That is an insane amount of people wanting to see that concert. I'd say they need to do more, but at that age, I don't think they'd survive a tour.
Then again, the Rolling Stones are touring...

It's great that Bonham's son is keeping the music going. I love Stairway to Heaven.

I feel like seeing Zeppelin would be so much better than accompanying three girls to a Taylor Swift concert!

Zeppelin was the very first band I ever fell in love with, the first whose songs I knew by heart. I remember when my husband, then boyfriend, and I got stranded in Waikiki in the mid 80s and we had no music, so we use to sit along the wall at the beach and sing LZ tunes out loud. And I did see the Revolution commercial with Kashmir as the music. Made me swing around and take a peek. I've tried to get my AIC-loving son interested in LZ to no avail. *sigh* And Jimmy's almost 70? YIKES!!!!! God, do I ever feel old now!

So I have to admit that I like Zeppelin, but I have never been a HUGE fan. However, when I read the article on Revolution and the soundtrack, I listened to those two songs. They are so perfect for this show, and are edging me more towards rabid fandom.

Alex: When I heard that number I had to rewind my TV and hear it again. Unbelieveable is the only word for it.

Robyn: I am just sorry they didn't do shows earlier when Jason played with them...while they were all younger! I listened to Stairway all through high school...love that album.

Johanna: I would give most anything to see them. I see my order for Celebration Day has shipped so I am super excited for it to arrive.

Nancy: Glad you are a Zep fan...maybe your son will come around. It is good to know some of the foundation and inspiration for todays rock...even AIC.

Monti: Bravo! I had to go to iTunes and download the remastered version for 99-cents!

Shauna: It doesn't take much if you like rock to become rabid. I could tell you how I did it back in the early 70's but unless you live in Colorado or Washington...
