Today's Apocalypse Sign: The Weekend In Black And White

From an old cemetary in my home town I found a man who almost made it. Four months shy of turning 100, he died. Pretty full life for the 1800's.

So Close

You can see toward the bottom of the grave stone it has been broken off and reset at some point

Nice photo. You're right, that's a very good age for those days.

Hi Chuck - they were tough back then .. I wonder what he did. Still he is at least remembered! I'm glad they re-erected his grave stone ..

Good - black and white - cheers Hilary

Wow, at that point, you'd think his will to live would've got him there. But maybe he was ready to go.

Alex: There were several headstones in this very small cemetary plot that showed ages in 30yr - 50yr range. This one was by far the oldest.

Dragonstar: Thank you and yes it was.

Hilary: I imagine that a lot of them were tough as long as they could avoid disease and infection...those were killers back then.

Amit: Yes, it is still incredible now. Thanks.

Robyn: Hard to tell what happened but trying to hit the triple digits would be one way to keep going.

Wow! That is a really long life for back then! One hundred might have been a great milestone, but it also could have sucked if he was in bad shape for a long time.
Hey, your header is awesome!!!

Pat: Thanks for the header compliment. I can't believe I drove passed this little side of the road cemetary so many times after high school and never stopped to check it out. Does that say something about getting older?
