Today's Apocalypse Sign: iPod Monday

Today was interesting. Besides the fact that it was a humid 87 out for the 22 of October...the wind was howling from the south and threatening rain all day. Then Saturday the high is supposed to be 56. Go figure.

The iPod cranked out a wicked array of tunes when I got home tonight and not of the relaxing variety...until the end. So now I'm kinda amped for the NFC North game tonight between the Lions and Bears. Whatever helps the Packers is the outcome I am rooting for.

So sit back and experience the 5 tracks below and let me know what you think or know about any of the bands/performers.

Rock it!

1. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Aeroplane (One of the lesser known songs released in March of 96. It remains one of my favorites. The boys were inducted into the Rock n Roll HOF this year.) A little R-rated on some of the lyrics.

2. Rage Against The Machine - Down Rodeo (This song has had tons of airplay and was never nominated for any awards. It always makes me think of the video game Grand Theft Auto which I have curiously never played...or seen played.)

3. Live - Lightning Crashes (Their hit song from the 1994 release Throwing Copper. The whole album is really good. Give it a listen if this is new to you.)

4. Ted Nugent - Great White Buffalo (I remember listening to the Amboy Dukes when I was a kid and Nugent has never stopped rockin' since. The 70's were his heyday but his music gets any party going still today. At 64 he is still going strong.)

5. Eric Clapton - Layla (I have been listening to all incarnations of Clapton as long as I have been listening to music. He is a great guitarist the list of songs he has is huge. The acoustic version of Layla is one of my all time favorites.)

Well there you have it...the iPod Shuffle for this Monday. Wide variety of music and styles. Thoughts?

Lightning Crashes will always remind me of the Oklahoma bombing.
And been meaning to tell you the new header for your blog is awesome!

Now you're playing my music -- the first three, anyhow. "Lightning Crashes," wow. Takes me back to high school!

Yes I remember Aeroplane, it was a pretty big hit in the UK. Definitely an eclectic mix here!

Alex: Thanks on the header. Weird how some songs really ring a bell for people.

Milo: Glad you enjoyed. BTW just finished your lastest Coyote Cal epic and loved it!

Nick: Glad you liked the RHCP selection.
