"Imma gonna git me that there sneaky snake...it's a biggen!"
From WESH.com
Broward County authorities say the winner of a roach eating contest died shortly after eating dozens of roaches and worms.
Several contestants ate insects to win a python, the grand prize of the Friday night contest at Ben Siegel Reptile Store in Deerfield Beach.
The Broward Sheriff's Office says the winner of the challenge, 32-year-old Edward Archbold, became ill soon after and collapsed in front of the store. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The sheriff's office said Monday it was waiting for an autopsy report to determine a cause of death.
No other contestants became sick after the contest. (and no snakes were harmed in this contest)

And this one falls squarely in the category of stupid and criminally insane people should not be allowed to leave the hospital with a baby...or to even have the baby in the first place. Oh wait...she's 22 years old and has 4 kids!!! WTF. I am embarassed this happened right hear in Dallas.
From truecrimereport.com
The little girl had soiled her pants at their Dallas apartment. Escalona considered it a mortal sin.
So she dragged her daughter by the feet from the kitchen to another part of the apartment. She put glue on the girl's hand and stuck them to a wall until they bled. Then she beat her with a shoe and a belt, kicked her in the stomach and also beat her in the stomach with a jug of milk.
Being a moron, Escalona seemed unaware that this might, you know, severely injure a little girl. When Joselyn became listless, Escalona was on the horn to her mom for help. But by the time mom arrived, the girl was unconscious. She called an ambulance.
When doctors examined Joselyn, they found bruising all over he body, broken ribs and a concussion. She may end up with brain damage.
Escalona has been charged with injury to a child. Social services has taken custody of Joselyn and he three siblings. (I say they charge every friend and relative with aiding and abetting this behavior)

The first one is disgusting. The second one is pure evil. Who could do that to a child?
That kind of child abuse makes me feel ill. There is some small comfort in knowing she will probably be declared unfit and not be allowed continued contact with those children.
Alex: and at the hearing today she took the stand and tried to say she is not always a monster and that she is a good mother to her kids...they even cut the plaster of the wall showing where the two handprints were...as evidence.
Johanna: How could a defense lawyer even sleep at night taking a case like that?
Part of Escalona's punishment -- along with a long imprisonment and never being allowed to be alone with her (or any) children -- should be a forced diet of roaches and worms.
OMG....doesn't that 2nd article just sicken you to no end. Why on earth do some women even HAVE children? It's beyond me. As for the contest and death...that I read before, it just boggles my mind.
Was she in a "Beat a child senseless to win a snake' contest?
Nate: She got 99 years and is appealing it. But I like how you think.
Anni: The sentence was harsh (99 years) but the odd thing is...they gave custody of her kids, including the one she glued to the wall, to the grandmother. The one who said her daughter was not a monster. Go figure.
PTM: Now that is just wrong...now she's gonna be a prison bitch.
One the first one, I wonder if any of the roaches or worms were still alive when they opened him for an autopsy? That would freak out the coroner.
The second one truly is sick. Some people just have no right continue living. I agree about other people who knew how she was, being charged also. She needs to hang herself (wink wink) in jail...
Pat: I could see one of the Bones or CSI coroners opening up a squirming mass of roachs and worms...probably has already been on an episode.
