Today's Apocalypse Sign: The Countdown To The End

Today marks less than 12 days to the end of the Mayan Long Count Calendar. More specifically:

Today's Date:Mon 10  Dec 2012
Today's Maya Date:12 . 19 . 19 . 17 . 9
4 Manik 10 Mac
11 days until 13.0.0.0.0

If you check out the link above, you will know what all that means...maybe.

So, what will relieve the headache you are bound to get trying to understand the detail of this calendar??

An End Of The World party, of course!!

Here are some options to consider when planning that special once-in-a-lifetime (literally) party:

1. World Wide End Of The World Party - You can organize your own party, join an existing party, or print a World End ticket for the party...all from this site. Cool video too. There is plenty of fun stuff to do on the Mayan calendar wheel. Check it out!

2. End Of The World Party Decorations - Here you can get everything you need for your own EOW party. From Mayan maraccas to necklaces and from torch cut-outs to Mayan party horns, you'll have everything you need. There are also party favors, party food list, and a party play list. One stop shopping! Of course they have all bases covered with a selection of I Survived The Mayan Calendar T-shirts. (Okay so I ordered one!!). You can also get this cool party sign for your yard!

3.  Doomsday Party 2012 - Here are four great party games for EOW party. My personal favorite...Pandemic Pictionary!! Right?

4. Apocalypse Drinking Game - Guaranteed to make you not care about (and maybe even hope for) the End Of The World.

5. Cruise to the End - For those of you looking to spend every last dime before the End, check out this cruise to where it all began...Mayan country. Sails from New Orleans to the Yucatan and Cozumel. Might as well be in the center of the biggest party on the planet!

And now a little upbeat ditty to get you in the mood...

And if the world is going to end, you can't go without hearing a little Tom Waits...

That's a young and hilarious Martin Mull (sans moustache).

And, the 21st couldn't fall on a better date... a Friday!

Are you going to change the name of your blog if the apocalypse doesn't happen to land on the 21st? Perhaps "Apocalypse Past" or "Apocalypse Later"?

Think I'll go for number four.

I wonder how many End-of-the-World parties there'll be. Good thing it lands on a Friday!

Have you decided what you're going to post on Dec 22nd, Chuck? ;-p (assuming that day dawns, of course!)

So - does the 'end' come as soon as midnight passes the international dateline? Wouldn't that be hard luck on those partying away on the other side of the globe where it was still the 20th Dec?

I have a feeling this will be like the time the world held it's collective breath at the approach of the impending Y2K catastrophe....! ;-)

Chiz: Do you think the Mayans would just pick ANY day of the week for calendar ending date?? We're gonna party like it's 12.19.19.19.19

Alex: Way ahead of you...increased my Tequila stock triple for this event!!

Nancy: You're not having one?? I thought it would be the rage on the 21st. Friday was no coincidence...those Mayans knew how to partay.

Sue: I am slowly getting around to thinking about that...It should happen similar to the way New Years Eve ripples around the globe I suspect. And yes, thoughts of Y2K come to mind quite often.
