Today's Apocalypse Sign: Labor Day iPod Monday

No work today but still took time to wind down from the great PGA tournament that finished today. Tiger fought hard but ended up third in a star-studded field. Just two events left for the $10 million FedEx cup championship. Then it's on to the Ryder Cup...USA vs Europe! On our home soil this year.

Enough sports...let's get to the music. Another wide range of musical types and performers. Hope you find this Labor Day in good health and spirits. Please enjoy today's shuffle...

[Links to the bands Wiki on the group name and the link to the lyrics on the song title] Educate yourself people!

1. R.E.M - Crush With Eyeliner (not sure how to interpret this one but it is one of my favorite REM songs...Lyric: "She's a sad tomato...she's 3 miles of bad road.")

2. Janis Joplin - Cry Baby (gots lots of Janis since she is one of my wife's favs)

3. Smashing Pumpkins - The Crying Tree Of Mercury (Billy and his acoustic guitar)

4. Filter & The Crystal Method - Trip Like I Do (this collaboration created this song for the soundtrack of the Spawn movie.(you have heard this group (well actually CM is just two members) before if you watch the TV show Bones...they do the theme music)

5. The Cult - Love Removal machine (a hard drivin' song from yesteryear...gotta love the Cult!) (and yes, I did submit corrections to the lyrics that are posted on the link)

Any of these ring a bell or bring back any memories? Any you don't know? Favorites songs from any of these groups?

You do have eclectic and good taste, Chuck. My favorite of these is Joplin.

Be well.

For Filter it would have to be Hey Man Nice Shot as a favorite.

Janis Joplin! Now you are getting into my area of listening pleasure.

Robyn: Yeah Janis just kind of takes you back to the late 60's when all kinds of pizza stuff was going on! At least you didn't say I was eccentric :))

Alex: Yep, that's the song that made me but the Short Bus CD.

Rita: She sure had a one-of-a kind voice and sang her songs hard...a bit of nostalgia.

I really like most of it. Janis Joplin was great but her voice gives me a sore throat.

Pat: Ironically that is the part of Joplin's voice that my wife likes the most. She says it sounds like her throat has been sliced by razor blades...raw.
