Today's Apocalypse Sign: Where The Hell Am I???

This is what I've felt like the last couple of weeks...except no marshmellows! That would have been sweet!! Human smores...

Anyway, I had to take a minute and let everyone know I was still alive. I missed Alex's blogfest which is still bummin' me out. Sorry dude. I have been working like an indentured servant. And I'm still getting used to my dentures...but I don't think that's what that means.

My wife and I had new living furniture delivered (finally) which was a real pain for those poor suckers who had to man-handle two couch units with recliners at each end up a very tight stairway. Plus tables, lamps, and coffee table. Then I had to have the Geek Squad come out and install the new 51" plasma 3-D TV that came FREE with the furniture purchase (Rooms To Go!) They did all the electronics and mounted that bad boy on the wall. Very Badass!! Our very first real living room after 11 years of marriage!

Then I decided I needed a friggin' 3-D movie to test out the blu-ray 3-D player and the TV. My wife and I decided on Avatar. Whoops! Try and buy this...in this country...I dare you. When you go on line to search for it you get the rude awakening that you can only get a genuine new copy of this movie with the purchase of a Panasonic 3-D Bundle (with rechargable glasses) for $188 (bend over is more like it). Panasonic has the exclusive rights to sell this disc. Then there are people selling the movie watched once for $45. New in the package for $60.

So being the shrewd shopper I'm not...I went to Germany! Virtually of course...and bought a new disc for $24 plus $7 shipping and it will be here in 7 days. Talked about delayed gratification!

Then I got in my new Sigma 70-300 Macro lens for my Nikon...$168! A steal...sooo I also got in my new Epson P3000 multi-media viewer. This 40 gig hard drive bad boy is going to Belize and become the storage unit for all pictures and videos taken during the trip. Bonus: I can also upload music to it and use it as a portable entertainment center. A friend of mine has one of these and raves about it. I've been wanting one since last year's trip to Fiji. Now it's all mine!

Most of my free time from work (which has been damn little) has been spent on my new mission of going a little more minimalistic and a lot less hoarder. I am donating clothes to Goodwill and shrinking my closet by admitting I will never wear (or fit into) some of this stuff ever again.

Anyway, lots going on but I didn't want to lose touch with anyone after the A-Z. This weekend should give me some time to visit your lovely sites and entertain myself with your stellar wordiness!

Damn, May is half over?? One month from now I will be on my boat in Belize. I would like to say I'll be thinking of you but let's be real!

Til next time....

Hi, Chuck! Sounds like you're having a real life/lifestyle makeover - out with old, in with the new ;-)

Word of warning re. your DVD purchase from Germany - is it region-compatible? Over here in the UK/Europe we are Region 2, but America is Region 1. (I am gutted there are films I'd like to see on sale via Am@zon that are only available as Region 1!)

Of course, your super-posh new equipment may be able to cope with that, in which case no worries and happy viewing!

Happy holiday in Belize, too - looking forward to seeing some spectacular pictures, with all that new tech to play/experiment with!
;-P

Very cool that you have a 3D TV! You'll enjoy it. I recommend Hugo and Thor. Both look great in 3D. Don't worry about the blogfest. It happens. And you won't be thinking about us at all???

How's the 3-D TV? My girlfriend's parents bought one, but we haven't tried it out because 3-D makes her nauseous. And, don't worry, It's a lot easier to catch up since everyone's no longer posting a blog topic a day.

Really, Belize? I might need to pick your brain because I was thinking of planning a spring trip there next year.

Well it doesn't sound all that bad, Chuck, except for being overworked, getting screwed over in attempting to buy a few new toys, and facing general burnout (Or is that just in the picture?). I do hope you have time to relax and catch your breath this weekend.

Nice to read your news, Chuck. I've not seen Avatar. I hope it's worth the wait. Those US prices are criminal. Thought everything was cheap there!

Well, enjoy your living room and Belize. I nominated you for the Kreativ Blogger award. I tried to highlight those I got to know in the Challenge to receive it. Details at my blog!

Sue: Yes I have been threatening to my wife that I am on the verge of going minimalistic. I checked the DVD before I bought it and it is region free so that's good. There will be plenty to share when I get back from Belize! Thanks Sue.

Alex: You know Thor is going to be the next one I get in 3-D. I really liked that movie on DVD and my wife hasn't seen it yet so new experience for her. I am sure I will be thinking about my blogging gang a little.

Chiz: I will let you know as soon as the Avatar disc gets here. The simulated 3-D is not quite the same. Now I have to catch up on your 3 or 4 part story.

Johnna: I will give you the first hand dope when I get back...keep in mind I will be on a boat for most of the week we are there but you will get any info I can gather.

Robyn: Thanks Robyn...but somehow I had no time this weekend either. My wife is getting ready to lead her traditional Memorial Day weekend dive trip so it will be a short week.

Nick: Thanks. The pre-release deals are what drives the cost of the 3-D movies up. They are all bundled with 3-D viewing hardware from various manufacturers. Could be criminal though :) I have to get by your blog I am so late!!!

Laura: Yes it is! I threw a bunch more useless junk out today...quite liberating it is.

Admitting that I have been missing you around my site. But, I have been a little to busy myself to inquire why.

Happy to hear it is just a busy life keeping you absent. I'm afraid that you really don't want the inside scoop on all my activities of late. Enough said -- I have spent a lot of time in the doctors office.

You may have been working a ton of hours, but it sounds like you might have also won the lotto!
You sure got some nice gear...
