A few days ago (alright it was last week) my A-Z buddy Nick Wilford was really more than kind to bestow on me the following award:
I am not sure if I am very creative but I accept all awards that begin with the letter K therefore I must accept and comply. I have answered the 10 questions of Hercules (God, I realized I missed the Monday Minute more than I thought) and while some have answered these with much thought and reverence...you can pretty much tell that did not factor in for me. Then I gave up 10 random things that were safe to divulge to the interwebz. And finally passed this award on to 7 much more deserving folks. I guess I used up my three wishes so all you genies stay put in your bottle!
Thanks Nick for the fun that was the A-Z and for this nice award. Sorry it took so long to get this post up! Any of you who have not stopped by Nick's blog, please give him a visit...I think he's a pretty smart guy and knows a few things about writing.
What is your favorite song?
This varies constantly, but today it's Webb Wilder's Tough It Out. It rocks and makes a strong statement...two good motivators. Crank it!
What is your favorite dessert? Mojave? No wait, you were looking for food right? Okay, a quality cheesecake.
What ticks you off? Doesn't Off keeps ticks away?? Yeah that's it...oh and stupid people.
When you're upset what do you do? I think Sublime said it best in their Two Joints song :) Just kidding...now I take Pepto Bismol.
Which is/was your favorite pet? My two wacko BT's...Caesar and Cornelia...except today Cornelia wins out since Caesar decided to pee on the carpet for no reason!
Which do you prefer to wear, black or white? In this age of political correctness I actually prefer both...sometimes Oreo and sometimes reverse Oreo.
What is your biggest fear? Not aging like a fine wine but rather like an old melon.
What is your attitude mostly? Superior...with a hint of humble. Just the right amount.
What is perfection? A 3000 score on Hundred Pin bowling on the Wii. Yes, I did it.
What is your guilty pleasure? Coming home early from work just coz I want to.
Ten Random Things
1. I took sax and piano lessons as a kid...can't play either one today!
2. My first drunk was as a sophomore/junior in high school...On Boones Farm Strawberry Hill!!
3. I shared a trailer home with 3 buddies back in the late 70's...when we moved out it was destroyed.
4. I bought a monkey's foot at a voodoo shop on Bourbon St.
5. I have played golf at the base of Mt Shasta in California...not well, but I played.
6. I owned a Pinto wagon...it was sweet!
7. A congenital defect in my right knee kept me out of Phys-ed and all school sports after 8th grade. On the bright side I was a member of the chess team!
8. When I was a baby my mother found a black snake curled up in my bassinet. (My dad being a camp director caused us to spend every summer at camp from the time I was born).
9. When the first year Mazda Miatas came out I bought one and it was the most fun car ever. I felt like James Bond driving it. Always parked inside. Never driven in the rain. And when I sold it 17 years later it still had less than 60,000 miles on it.
10. While in Mexico 4 years ago I bought a bottle of absinthe. I have yet to open it. Anyone want to join me in seeing the green fairies?
The seven charmed ones...
Nancy Thompson (my AIC partner in crime)
Sue H. (your stories are the best!)
Sarah (unbelievably unabashed and real)
Cowgirl (just coz she'll hate it!)
Milo (I have two of your works on my Kindle to read)
Crack You Whip (always entertaining and visual)
Chiz (somehow his LSD oozed into my blog so I had to)
Now get to work and share the dirt!

AIC partners in crime! I like that! Absinthe, huh? Might be interesting, 'cept it's from Mexico, which is pretty freakin' scary. I have a convertible, a little German sports car, the Ultimate Driving Machine, and by far the best car I've ever had. And I've had some great cars. I call it my happy place. Whenever the sun comes out, & that's rare in Seattle, the top goes down, and the music cranks up. I bet your Miata was loads better than that Pinto! And stupid people irritate me like nothing else in this world!
Thanks so much for the award. I like this one. I did it a few months ago myself. It was fun! Thanks for dropping by & telling me, too. I'm neck deep in edits from my publisher & haven't been making the rounds this week.
Alright, I lost everything I had in my head to say after you mentioned the snake in the bassinet. That is rather horrifying.
I liked your answers; they were fun. Do you still have the monkey foot? Funny that some of the questions are different for each person filling this out. Congrats on your award!
I will treasure your remark about melon and fine wine and do my best not to be a melon.
Oh, now I see what you meant by 'gift'. Thanks a lot, Chuck! I really appreciate, even though you might have been under the influence of my excess LSD.
And absinthe you say? I've actually never tried it. They legalized a watered-down form of it where I live, though.
CHEESECAKE!! Mos def. Congratulations on the award, Chuck, and thanks for passing it along.
Wow, I am so incredibly honored! Thank you so much :) Made my day.

I can't believe your mom found a snake in your bassinet! Yikes!
Congratulations! I like your idea of a guilty pleasure. Coming home early just to play computer games or go to a movie is even better. And Off is supposed to keep all bugs away but the ones immune to it always find me.
Hahaha Thanks, and actually I am going to do it, it might help me out of my blog block caused by trying to do too many at once.
And I'll do the absinthe with you - always wondered about that stuff.
Thank you! I appreciate you passing that along to me. I will be sure to check out the other sites!
"Superior...with a hint of humble" - great attitude, Chuck.
xoRobyn
Good choice with the cheesecake! =D
And Pintos. Nice cars--just don't get rear ended.
Nancy: Nope, it's quality absinthe. I freaked out when I found it and then I freaked out about getting it back to the states. The Miata was badass. Buying one as soon as it came out was a head-turner on the road for the first year. I felt like a movie star! Hope you get some time to breath soon. You truly deserve this award.
Shannon: Can you imagine how my mom felt when she walked in and saw it! Sadly, I don't believe the monkey foot ever left New Orleans...hell I barely remember leaving after that trip! I was glad to see you get the award because if not I had you on my list.
Esther: It's been awhile. That one was my favorite honest answer.
Chiz: Yes I am sure you thought I had "dots" for ya. This absinthe is the real deal. I may have my wife pick up another bottle when she leads her dive trip to Cozumel this weekend...then I can open one of them! That's where I bought the first bottle.
Milo: And I had a gooood slice this past Sunday! You are welcome and most deserving.
Sarah: Glad you enjoyed and it was well deserved. Your blog is great!
Johanna: Yep, and it was a pretty good sized one. Wisconsin summers can be kind of cool so he was looking for a place to get warm.
Alex: I absolutely love coming home early on my wife's day off just to take her to the movies when there are no crowds or lines.
Cowgirl: I am so impressed with your post on this award. I was rolling by the end...thanks for making it worthwhile. Cool tattoo by the way. And you know what...I WOULD share my absinthe with you...I think you have the temperment for it!
Whip: You entertain me so much I couldn't leave you out! Enjoy.
Robyn: I see you went right for the most truthful answer...very nice choice.
Donna: Believe it or not...I did get rear ended while I was stopped to make a left turn...in the friggin left turn lane! Some crazy lady who was actually going straight and not turning, just slammed right into me...I visualized flames right before impact when I looked in my rear view mirror. Then nothing happened. Lucky guess.
Awesome! I learn a lot about my fellow bloggers from these posts. I love the snake in the bassinet story.
It was nice getting to know you. Your responses made me laugh. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Chuck .. well deserved award .. I'll join you in the piano lesson thing - but I'm hopeless at music too .. oh dear - bet someone wished they'd fumigated the trailer home - it might be worth a fortune today.
Don't fancy the snake story ... I might after a session with l'absinthe! My mother had a Mazda and loved it .. I was in South Africa - so failed to get a go with it!!
Cheers Hilary
I've had a pinto BEAN, does that put me up there with you? Probably not. A black snake in your bassinet? Holy crap. Okay....tell me, what does a monkey's foot do? I many have to go back to 'Nawlins.
And....I already passed the ripe melon stage in life...I'm now resembling the compost pile. FYI [I know you know, but I'm just being silly]....dessert is spelled with TWO 's' ---'cause you always want to go back for seconds. Oh and by the way, Jason's Deli pecan cheesecake....sublime.
ps....congrats on the award.
OMG, I just dropped by to tell you that I bestowed this exact ward on you. LOL
Clarissa: I am glad you enjoyed some of my deep dark secrets...and a little snake tail!
Jessica: I am glad you enjoyed and followed. How did you find me??
Hilary: I close my eyes and I can still remember playing the same thing over and over for what seemed like a year. I am pretty sure they burned the trailer!
Anni: Pinto bean, now THAT'S a hoot! I am pretty sure after several Hand Grenade drink, I only cared that it was a monkey foot (or at least that which the voodoo lady said). Probably just a chicken foot! Thanks for the tip on Jason's. Thanks!!
Melissa: No way! That is too funny. I will accept but I don't know if I can dance again...maybe.
Boones Farm Apple Wine and Strawberry Hill! Yeah! Par-tay! I had a friend whose refrigerator held nothing but bottles of those, along with a package of American cheese.
The voodoo monkey foot thing--can you use it to put a hex on people? If so, cool! :D
I wasn't lucky enough to be born with a knee problem to keep me out of sports in high school, I had to resort to joining the school magazine (which always met on sports afternoons).
Earthling: Boones Farm was the shiz back in high school. I never got the monkey foot out of New Orleans so I can't really tell you what it could do...I was bummed.
Kellie: I didn't mind not getting all sweaty in mid-day PE class but I really wanted to play basketball.
I really enjoyed reading the responses to the questions.
Chuck - thanks for the award! I've passed it on, as per instructions - and directed my blog-followers here, too!
Enjoy Belize when you go! ;-)
Congrats on the award and to those you awarded. I'll check them out!
Your facts were great.
I smoke two joints, before I smoke two joints and then I smoke two more...
Sue: Yours was really well done. You absolutely deserve it for your creative writing. Thanks for playing along...since I really didn't make up the rules!
Pat: Thanks Pat! Didn't know you were a Sublime fan!
Hey Chuck... Big time Sublime fan. They are from my home town. Bradley Nowell was a genius! Another genius who OD'd on heroin.
Pat: Yeah me two...I think I know all the words to Santeria and sing wherever I am when it comes on...much to the chagrin of all around me! What is it with heroin and rockers???
