Today we celebrate the letter B. Since they are such a big part of I and my wife's life, it is only fitting that I honor my
Of all the dogs I have shared my life with, this breed is by far the best. They are energetic, intelligent, loving, and easy to care for. Their look is unique and as close to human-like as a canine can be. They are truly one of man's best friends.
About 11 years ago I was introduced to the breed as a friend of my wifes had rescued a mistreated Boston that a lady had chained to a tree. Out in the weather and unable to even reach his water bowl, our friend told the owner that if she did not take him off that chain and into the house he was going to come back with a leash and take him home. The owner told him go ahead and take him, all he does is bark. I don't hit women but I could have made an exception for her.
Our friend took him home, then to the vet and $600 later gave him to my wife (they already had two Bostons). They had named him Juno and he became the greatest dog ever. The choking of the chain had reduced his bark to the sound of a strep-throat cough. We loved and cared for him over the next 8 years. He wanted for nothing...best organic food, bottled or filtered water, organic bones, and a warm bed (mine) every night. He was full of energy and I believe all traces of his past hard life were distant memories because of our care.
Tragically on New Years Eve 2007 Juno developed respiratory problems late in the day and I rushed him to the animal emergency clinic. They tended to him as best they could but he faded rapidly. I could not believe how fast this all was happening. I had to call my wife who broke down immediately. She brought our 2-year old Boston (Caesar) with her to the clinic to say goodbye to his older brother. I believe they loved each other. Around 10PM that New Years Eve Juno passed quietly away. It was the hardest night of my life. Even now writing about it is hard.
Now Caesar is 5 years old and we have a new Boston female, Cornelia, at 9 months old. They are insane.

What is wrong with some people? I just don't understand how someone could be cruel to an animal. We had several dogs when I was growing up and it really sucked when each one died.
"I believe they loved each other" -- I believe all animals are capable of it. Great faces!
They are soo cute!
That's sad about Juno. Those two are very cute though. In terms of maintenance, how much work do Boston Terriers require?
My daughter and her son just adopted an adorable Boston Terrier. They are amazingly smart little animals. It's a shame that so many are mistreated.
OK, I just teared up. How wonderful you were able to make the second half of his life so wonderful. I could have been featured on Cops if I met that so called woman.
We have a Boston Terrier named Sadie. She was a rescue as well
Just stopped by from the A-Z Challenge!!

Alex: Some people are just wired wrong. Funny it is more upsetting now than when I was a kid.
Milo: I believe that too. Thanks.
Baygirl: The Bostons have such a great personality coupled with their charming good looks. Hard to stay mad at them for long.
TS: My wife and I were zombies that first week of '08. They are really low-maintenance.
Pam: I am sure they will love their choice. Check out some of the youtube videos on Bostons. They are hilarious.
Junebug: Yes it was very good for him. I am with you on the Cops thing!
Kristin: That is great! I'll bet she is a joy every day.
Giggle: Thanks for stopping by! Have a good challenge.
Some people should not own pets. Good thing there's others to take such good care of them. I'm a huge dog lover - and loved seeing your pets here - so cute!
Jaydee: I agree with that! Thanks for the kind words...I am sure they will love it when I read this to them. Thanks for stopping by.
My brother and his wife have a Boston Terrier. He's a lot of fun to play with but is definately Mommy's dog. I like smaller short haired dogs. We have a Yorkie who needs a constant haircut.
They are adorable! We lost our faithful hound (GSD crossbreed) Brucie, this time last year - we have a doggy-shaped hole in our lives at the moment :-( so please give Caesar and Cornelia a big hug from me!
Canine companions will be appearing on my list of 'A-Z' shortly!
SueH I refuse to go quietly!
Stephen: Yep, both of ours are Mommie's dogs...unless she is upset then they becaome Daddy's dogs! Our friends have two Yorkies (Teacups)that are all hair!
Sue: Hugs are never a problem with them. Looking forward to your canine adventures.
Such a loving story. Our pets are totally at our mercy. You and your wife together make one gigantic kind heart. Look forward to the rest of your April posts

Wanna buy a duck
I bet those two keep you busy. Welcome to the April blogging challenge.
Pretty bittersweet! You and your wife are nice folks to taking in the sweetie... I loved the video. It reminds me of myself and my brother fighting over something when we were kids.
GREAT post Chuck!
Manzanita: Thank you and thanks for stopping by. I'll have to pass on the duck though!
Poddys: They are two bundles energy that never seem to stop. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the challenge.
Pat: I never thought about it but I'll bet my brother would say the same thing about when we were kids.
Some people just aren't meant to be pet owners.
Jeffrey: Truer words never spoken. Just like some shouldn't be parents. Some people are just broken.
