I took my inspiration for this post from Lucy's post today over at Message in A Milk Bottle about sycamore wings. I had been meaning to post a few more winter scenes and just had not gotten around to it...today a gentle push in the right direction and here we are

I was walking in the woods at Christmas in Ohio looking for some interesting winter photo ops. The air was crisp, clean, and very quiet. I came upon this tree and noticed this image from about 25 feet away. I was immediately taken to thoughts of angels so I moved closer and snapped a few shots.
This is natural color not B&W! You can see bits of red and also some faint touches of green moss on the bottom photo.

That's the most amazing part. I thought that was color.
Hello Chuck.
These photos don't remind me of angels (though maybe they would if I saw them in real life) however, when enlarged, they are very beautiful. Also, when enlarged, they remind me of Durer line drawings.
It's fascinating when colour photographs seem to be black and white. Often, with the digital photography most of us are using, they have better tones and are of more interest than genuine monochromes.

Black and white is cool! So many unique patterns and shapes.
Copyboy: Yep this was in full color mode. Everything was so black and white that winter day no matter what mode I shot in.
Lucy: Thanks. The angels came from my somewhat over-active vivid imagination. I checked out the Durer line drawings and for them to be very cool!
Alex: That this was a full color mode shot made it even better. Thanks!
Beautiful photos, Chuck.
I don't know what the heck to think of these things Chuck! All I know is that they look amazing! GREAT photos! Especially when enlarged!
That's really interesting. I like that you saw these as tree angels. Very cool.
