Mid-February Weekend Graphs

Today's graphs are a mixed bag ... but no less entertaining, and maybe a little educational. You are sure to find something to add wrinkles to your grey matter (aka, brain).

I figured the last graph was appropriate now that Valentines is over and everyone is starting Phase II of their New Year's resolution to lose weight (or the between-Valentines-and-Easter diet). Sooo, we have the big overeating Holiday season followed a month later by the Super Bowl binge followed two weeks later by the Valentines glut...and now we are hell-bent heading towards the next candy tsunami we call Easter!

Wow...way sidetracked there...anyway, enjoy the following...then go outside and play!!

You gotta be quick!

How Much Sugar Are you Eating?

Chuck, In spite of the fact that I do have a new TV, I rarely turn it on. I'm so far out of the loop I only understand the first 3. I like the meeting one. I would most likely leave with a blank pad too.
Whee.... weekend for you people who work plus a holiday. Enjoy

The sugar one is terrifying, because I know people who eat regularly from the bottom half of the chart. My worst offense is the apple and I do eat one every single day.

Whoa, that sugar one is crazy. I'll just live on cereal, I guess :) And avocados really are almost that frustrating. LOL.

Chuck said...

Manzanita: I am sure you understand the sugar chart and are not a victim of it! No holiday for me...not a government employee.

Alex: My wife is way to into her Dr. Peppers and it scares me...but she is addicted.

Shell: I am going print out the sugar chart and take it to work...see how many friends I can make with it! At least I don't like avocados anyway.

I love avocados, but they can be frustrating. That cartoon is Funny. I don't really get the whole Zombie Fascination. I know people who Love Love Love them. In fact, they find everything about them Fascinating. I don't get it. But hey... different strokes, different folks. I agree that we are all consuming too much sugar. I do think that graph is a bit deceptive about processed sugars and natural sugars. There is a difference between drinking sodas and eating fruit. 'Nuff said.

Chuck said...

Robin: I think the zombie fascination has to do with the fact that they are not real and really couldn't exist so it's fun to tie them to everything.

I agree on the misleading part of the veggies and fruits being on the graph. At least they are there for comparison purposes, I guess. They are obviously vastly different as natural sources versus man-made crap!

Love the avocado graph. That's so true! And the sugar content is dang scary.

Chuck said...

Donna: Those two seem to be the most popular this week...the first and last.

Thanks for visiting my blog. The last graph was informative. The first one confirms my opinion that the best thing to do with an avocado is throw it out.

Funny things about the undead.

Oh my goodness....guess I'll take notes on my clean note pad and ship this off via email to Bud. He loves sugar. That Slurpee is scary. Oh, and the sugar in fresh fruit is a GOOD sugar, so that is good. Right? At least it's not a refined sugar/additive.

by the way Chuck, I tried to catch up on your blog posts and with the SOTU post, you wrote "This is a subject with myriad layers like an onion. The more you peel the more you want to cry." I say...yes, cry indeed.

Have you ever listened to Dr. Carson? His speech about politics made a whole lotta sense...

Love the avocado one. So freakin' true! I watched TWD once and don't get what people see in it. It was so boring! I do love sugar. I tend to be hypoglycemic, which is not such a bad thing. I think the trick is to eliminate processed foods. An apple may have a lot of sugar, but the fiber and nutrients balance that out, as long as you don't eat too much. I think the real culprit is sugary drinks, especially soft drinks. Always interesting to drop by, Chuck!

Chuck said...

Shark: I visit your site a lot but don't always have time to comment. I am glad you stopped by!

Leovi: I guess that is one way to look at it.

Anni: You are right,,,it is NOT refined/bad sugar. And I am going to have to check out Dr Carson. Thanks

Nancy: In like zombie movies like Resident Evil (maybe for Mila Jovovich) but a series where there is no conclusion?? Sounds promising but I like my zombie viewing to at least appear to have an end.

I like to combine the daily recommended sugar allowance for children, women and men each day. That way, I'm surely getting what I need.

Loved the Walking Dead facts. You should definitely watch that show.

Chuck said...

Robyn: And that is why you are so sugary sweet!

PTM: Trying to cut down on my TV couch-potato time, my man. Otherwise I am sure I would be watching it.

I've never seen a Walking Dead episode and probably won't, but I'm a fan of zombie films.

Sugar? I eat way too much. As to Alex's claim, what about the Hot Tamales? Is there a sugar free version?

Wow! No wonder so many kids are out of control. Their main food group is sugar! I'm not a sugar eater, but I am a carb eater. Carbs turn to sugar...crap!
Avocados are in my top five of things I like to eat. Even after they pass from not ripe to over ripe, they are still good. Just use 'em as spread... I'm going to the kitchen now and eating the rest of that sorry looking avocado in the baggy. I'm going to put it on a toasted english muffin with a little garlic salt and pepper.

Chuck said...

Lee: You and I about even on the zombie movie thing. I have no idea if there is a sugar free variety but doubt they would be tasty enough to even go looking for:)

Leovi: Okay then.

Pat: My sister has finally gotten her kids mostly off of sugar and the difference is amazing...for me particularly since I only see them once a year I can really tell.

I do not like anything to do with avocados...not even touching my food. Never been able to eat them...so they are all yours! My wife loves them.

Shannon Lawrence said...

But I like apples, dang it! And I haven't had a milkshake in five years because they're so absurdly bad for me. They're soooooo good, though. Sigh.

Also, would you eat with the zombies? I wouldn't! Blech!
