The week it has been and the week it will be. Oh yes, I can predict the future.
HAS BEEN ~
Saturday night my wife and her girlfriends carved pumpkins. I watched the World Series. Obviously we were at two different places...like 20 miles apart. Fours days after a pumpkin is carved it turns moldy and you have to throw it out.
Sunday I spent 3 frickin' hours chasing my tail and learning how useless the internet can be from time to time. The mission: find a way to watch the Packers/Vikings game. Since I am in Texas I am saddled (no pun intended) with watching NFC east games no matter what. So I turned to the internet. Between the videos on youtube (way outdated) and false promises on virtually every promising site I searched for...I found no way to watch this game on my computer. I pathetically resigned myself to watching two helmets march up and down the field (CBS Sports Gametrak) while listening to the Cowboys on TV just waiting for a game break. This sucked beyond belief. At least the Pack won and are now 7 and 0 going into the bye week. Then I watched the Rangers lay an egg in World Series that night.
Monday was the worst day at work in several months. In fact it was a month or more of Mondays snowballed into one giant suck-fest. Apparently the stupid people got the memo to talk to me that day but I was curiously left off the distribution list. By 5PM I was mentally drained and could not get thoughts of homicide out of my head. Good night though...the Rangers won a masterfully pitched game by 25-year old Derek Holland...2-hitter. Rangers lead the series 3-2 and back to the sucko weather in St. Louis.
Tuesday was a trade off at work. The stupid people were all gone but my other worker for the morning texted me she was sick 15 minutes before she was to start. Leaving me 6 1/2 hours handling it all. But like I said the stupid people (I want Marilyn Manson to write THAT song!) left me alone so it was fairly easy. Travel day so no Series game. A nice night watching TV with the wife.
Today was the best day so far. My help showed up for work. As hump days go it was uneventful. Bummer of the day...tonights Series game has been called because of weather. I see a movie and an early night tonight.
WHAT WILL BE
Tomorrow (Thursday for those keeping score) has a change in store. The balmy 80's we have been basking in all week give way to a high of around 50 and rainy crap weather. The morning lows will be hitting the 40's for the next several mornings. Two months ago we were dying in the 100's and full-on drought! They say in Texas, " if you don't like the weather, wait a minute." Game 6 of the series is scheduled for tonight...hopefully that goes off as planned.
The rest of this week weather in the 70's, customers all geared up for this end of the month weekend, business should be brisk, Rangers will win game 6 and their first world series (then the only thing Texas will not have had a hand in for sports championships this year will be hockey, pfft whatever), the Pack will get much needed rest as this is their bye week, and Halloween is fast approaching.
The pumpkin is still going in the trash tomorrow...

Sorry about the stupid people. But the Rangers are leading the series!
I have NFL Ticket on Direct TV, so I get all the games. Got a deal on it - wouldn't pay full price though.
I know how you feel. I've been watching the green blips of the buffalo games. I live in NYC.
Tomorrow when your team wins it all, these bad days will be a distant memory! I'm only pulling for the rangers because they took the division over my Angels. Also because Adrian Beltre has been one of my favorites for quite a while.
You know Chuck, that stuff about the weather is exactly why I live in SoCal. Almost always mild...
Hang in there buddy!
Pretty dramatic around here - and you get so cross I'm beginning to think YOU are the Apocalypse!
Bemusing post for a Dorset dweller. Haven't a clue about American games. No idea what your work is. Never heard of Jack Handy. Can see your wife is an expert pumpkin carver. I take that as reassuring.
Hello Chuck!
Lucy
You gotta spray the whole pumpkin with Hairspray , and a liberal ammount at that, and the thing will last for weeks!
Alex: The Rangers blew it. I feel really bad for them as game six was just crushing. I have Dish and they have no football packages. So I continue to suffer for my team.
Copyboy: I know someone in Phoenix who is diehard Buffalo for all sports. She sees NO games!
Pat: Well it's now tomorrow after game seven and the Rangers failed. They walked too many and stranded too many. the end
Lucy: I think it is fascinating the way you comment. Baseball I guess has no relative in the UK. I am in the moving industry (like when people pack up all their stuff and move to a new abode), Jack Handy was a skit from Saturday Night Live with now congressman Al Franken (title of the skit was Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy, it was rather stupid but possibly why it stuck with me), and my wife has absolutely ALL the artistic talent in our family (except for our dog that can lick swirling patterns in the living room carpet). All this explaination has possibly confused more than clarified. Hello Lucy!
Atley: That's where I went wrong! I used spray deodorant, dammit....
As a woman I've got nothing to say about sports. But I fully agree about pumpkins. They get so gross and moldy too quickly. I think I'll just cut to the chase: buy a plastic pumpkin and a bag of pumpkin seeds for roasting, scare off all the kids and eat my chocolate in peace.
Happy Halloween, Chuck.

Robyn: Lots of women follow sports...just not you or my wife!
You were just taking the short cut to the chocolate...smart move.
