Seriously.
No footballs, softballs, basketballs, soccer balls. Nothing. The only allowable "ball type" was a Nerf ball. The reasoning: the school didn't want to take the chance of any of the kids getting hurt. This made me laugh. Nerf balls are for toddlers and hemophiliacs. Not 8, 9 and 10-year old kids.
What are we doing here people?? Turning our kids into de facto "bubble children"? How much protection do they need?
When I was in grade school we played dodge ball, 4-square, tether ball...and there were always footballs flying through the air. There were 4 basketball hoops in use. Were there bruises and bloody noses...yes. Every once in a while someone got smacked on the nose playing tether ball. A football would sail long and bonk someone on the head. So what? We were kids having fun and playing. Outdoors. Exercise.
There were skinned knees and elbows. Maybe even a black eye if you were really lucky. Badges of battle to show off the rest of the day in school!
I don't know where the school is going with this, but it is nowhere good.
Thoughts?

Those knocks are what made us tough. You can't bubble wrap kids or they will be completely unprepared for the real world.
Yes , I also think that a lot in this aspect exajera , balloons and balls is one of the more social toys ! What you need to do is that the playground as students share similar ages , trying to avoid the mixing of very young children with very old children .
It's all planned, Chuck. Part of the nanny state. Ron Paul pleads with people to home school their kids if at all possible.
No balls! That's insane, but so is teaching to pass SOL tests. That's where schools have gone. Creativity in teaching is out the window. I loved playing softball and had many a jammed finger to prove it! I hope that school reconsiders!
So glad to see you back. Had missed your posts.
Please don't worry about the art. As usual, I have an overload. Our travels got me far behind as well!
We're raising a generation of lawyers. In the future of the United States the entire population will consist of people in prison, those trying to stay out, lawyers, and people who work for the government. And it will be difficult to tell who is who.

Some of the most important lessons of life are learned from dodgeball... Sure, they're hard lessons. But lessons nonetheless.
Hugs!

Just one more example of humans being stupid! How could anybody think that was a good idea? I hope the parents went ape-shit when they heard about it. I know I would have!
A head teacher in England has said parents should not hold birthday parties for the primary school aged children unless everyone in the class is invited. She doesn't like the idea of anyone being left out . . .
I don't like there being an end to birthday parties because hardly anyone has a house big enough to invite round 30 rampaging seven year olds or funds enough to take them all for a treat.
I'm having a tiny issue I cant seem to be able to subscribe your rss feed, I'm using google reader fyi.
