Today's Apocalypse Sign: iPod Monday Returns

Just to refresh, when I get home from work on Monday I decompress by shuffling up 5 random songs on my iPod. I then have chosen to share them with you for your musical edification.

Here are this weeks jewels:

1. Bob Dylan - House Of The Rising Sun (I think I have literally every incarnation of this song that I could find. I first heard Frijid Pink perform this back int the 60's...timelessly good)

2. Little Feat - Texas Twister (this is a great "get your blood pumpin'" song. Love the guitar riffs!)

3. Dire Straits - The Bug ( Mark Knoffler had me at Sultans Of Swing, he's a pretty good picker)

4. Led Zeppelin - Dancing Days (you can never go wrong with Zeppelin!)

5. Blue Oyster Cult - Astronomy (I discovered this band back in the early 70's...still get no credit! I love this song and Metallica does a supreme cover)

Do you know all these songs? Find any you want to hear more of?

BOC!! Yes! I've seen them many times in concert over the years. Metallica's cover was really good. Have you heard Arjen A. Lucassen's cover of Veterans of the Psychic Wars? It's on his latest, Lost in the New Real. He also covers a Floyd song and it rocks.

I want Zeppelin fed into my coffin so I can listen to it forever.

Alex: Back in High School I found two of BOC's early albums in a discount bin at my local "carries everything store" (it was a small town). I picked them both up and slapped them on the turn table as soon as I got home. I turned all my friends on to them and before me...no one in town ever heard of them.

Nancy: Mine too. Even back in the late 60's I was hooked on them from the beginning. More of their are my favorites than any other group. They shaped the muscial world.

PTM: Excellent Idea!! I am altering my will right now to include that!

Alex: Just listened to some of the new Arjen release...Veteran and Welcome were both great covers. Never heard of this guy so thanks for the tip!

I know this grouping pretty darn well. I remember the first time I heard Blue Oyster Cult. I was amazed and loved them. Still do...

So much to enjoy here - ah, youth, where did you go!

Mind you - House of the Rising Sun always conjuours up images of Eric Burdon and The Animals for me! ;-)

Love House of the Rising Sun! Don't think the one I listen to is Dylan's version, but I'm not positive. Will have to check MY iPod.

Dylan's the man. Music is a great way to decompress. A little As I Lay Dying always helps me get my head straight after a l-o-n-g day at work.
