It is now two weeks to the day that the Alex J Cavanaugh science fiction novel was released. I told Alex I would help promote the word. He sent me all the info you see below. I had a post prepared and...never published it (shame). I was going through my drafts and saw that I had failed Alex.
I am a huge science fiction buff and this novel is right up my alley. I am reading it now and I think it is going to be a huge hit. Alex may be too modest (or maybe not) to share actual sales figures as time goes by, but it should be big. He is working on a sequel already and I'm on board for that!
So to Alex I say, I'm sorry for the lateness of this post, but I look at it as the reminder (sort of a post release promotion if you will) to those who have not bought the book, to get in line. And to those who may read my blog but not have known about the book release at all...links below will let you buy right now!
5-Stars for Cassastar!...great book Alex! When does the movie come out???
CassaStar by Alex J. CavanaughOctober 19, 2010 Science fiction/adventure/space operaISBN 9780981621067 Dancing Lemur Press LLC
To pilot the fleet’s finest ship…
Few options remain for Byron. A talented but stubborn young man with a troubled past and rebellious attitude, his cockpit skills are his only hope. Slated to train as a Cosbolt fighter pilot, Byron is determined to prove his worth and begin a new life as he sets off for the moon base of Guaard.
Much to Byron’s chagrin, the toughest instructor in the fleet takes notice of the young pilot. Haunted by a past tragedy, Bassa eventually sees through Byron's tough exterior and insolence. When a secret talent is revealed during training, Bassa feels compelled to help Byron achieve his full potential.
As war brews on the edge of space, time is running short. Byron requires a navigator of exceptional quality to survive, and Bassa must make a decision that could well decide the fate of both men. Will their skills be enough as they embark on a mission that may stretch their abilities to the limit?
“…calls to mind the youthful focus of Robert Heinlein’s early military sf, as well as the excitement of space opera epitomized by the many Star Wars novels. Fast-paced military action and a youthful protagonist make this a good choice for both young adult and adult fans of space wars.” - Library Journal

Looks like a good read. Hoping it does well.
It's not a failure, it's a reminder!
I've already read the book and it's great!
I'd already decided I know people who'd enjoy this book when I read Pat's review. This has reminded me. I don't know whether it will be possible to get it in England but, if we can, some family members are set to get it as a Christmas present. Alex must be proud to have you two as reviewers!
Lucy
Thanks, Chuck! You didn't let me down - this was a great surprise this morning. Glad you're enjoying the book! Working on the sequel. Maybe Dezz at Hollywood Spy can hook up some connections for a movie.
It's never too late to promote a great book. I'm a non-sci fi person, but I'm weakening given the great reviews like this.

Better late than never!!
I love scifi, I'll check it out.
Copyboy: It is a good read, do yourself the favor.
Pat: Somehow I knew you'd be the first one in the pool! I agree with you.
Lucy: No worries...Santa goes to the UK as well :)
Alex: Well I said I would help promote ahead of time and I feel bad for not keeping my word on that. Glad you were surprised this morning, I feel a little better now. Thanks for a great book.
Robyn: Give it a try...it's painless!
Baygirl: I know you're right about that but still...
Captain: You won't regret it!
Better late than never Chuck. Just think, after all the initial buzz has died down, your review will ignite some after-buzz for those newcomers who might have missed out on the events surrounding Alex's launch initially. I have it on my Kindle and need to get through the book I'm reading now before I check out Cassastar with no distractions.
Geof: I think that is now becoming my lifes's motto! Thanks.
Better late than never especially when we are talking about "that time of the month".
You should probably give back the $50 he gave you to do the review in the first place.
PTM: You mean I could have gotten $50 in the first place!!!
I agree with Pat. This is a reminder. This awesome Science Fiction book deserves every bit of promotion it can get, even a month after and beyond.
And thanks for following my blog. Would becoming the 100th follower of my blog be another sign of the apocalypse?
