Seems like this time of year brings out the weird and the wacko amoung us. And continues to stretch the boundaries of the title of Incredibly Stupid. To wit...these two jewels of genius that we can only know will be bested sooner than we'd like:

Broward County authorities say the winner of a roach eating contest died shortly after eating dozens of roaches and worms.
Several contestants ate insects to win a python, the grand prize of the Friday night contest at Ben Siegel Reptile Store in Deerfield Beach.
The Broward Sheriff's Office says the winner of the challenge, 32-year-old Edward Archbold, became ill soon after and collapsed in front of the store. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The sheriff's office said Monday it was waiting for an autopsy report to determine a cause of death.
No other contestants became sick after the contest.(and no snakes were harmed in this contest)
And this one falls squarely in the category of stupid and criminally insane people should not be allowed to leave the hospital with a baby...or to even have the baby in the first place. Oh wait...she's 22 years old and has 4 kids!!! WTF. I am embarassed this happened right hear in Dallas.

Friends and relatives knew 22-year-old Elizabeth Escalona was a shitty mother. They'd seen her hit her four kids in the past. But it seems they never intervened or called the cops. Two-year-old Joselyn Cedillo would pay a nasty price for their inaction.. The little girl had soiled her pants at their Dallas apartment. Escalona considered it a mortal sin.
So she dragged her daughter by the feet from the kitchen to another part of the apartment. She put glue on the girl's hand and stuck them to a wall until they bled. Then she beat her with a shoe and a belt, kicked her in the stomach and also beat her in the stomach with a jug of milk.
Being a moron, Escalona seemed unaware that this might, you know, severely injure a little girl. When Joselyn became listless, Escalona was on the horn to her mom for help. But by the time momarrived, the girl was unconscious. She called an ambulance.
When doctors examined Joselyn, they found bruising all over he body, broken ribs and a concussion. She may end up with brain damage.
Escalona has been charged with injury to a child. Social services has taken custody of Joselyn and he three siblings.(I say they charge every friend and relative with aiding and abetting this behavior)
Sorry for the absence in this spot...if you haven't missed, well, it's back anyway. I am talking about iPod Monday!
Quick review for anyone who happened to stumble in here today and are going WTF??
When I get home on Monday's my end-of-work therapy to start the week is to relax and fire up my iPod in shuffle mode. I run through 5 songs and then post those tunes here for you to enjoy/comment/ignore etc. Got it?
Okay here are this weeks selections....enjoy!
Wiki info is the link on the band name...lyrics are on the song title link....feed your head, people!
1. Sublime - Santeria (these guys have so many great songs that I feel entertained after everyone of them. This song is fun to sing along to too...all the lyrics are great, check 'em out!) And just so happens my drumming goddess Meytal just recently posted her cover of this tune so give it a look & listen
2. Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird (Live) (this song has always fallen #2 to Zeppelin's Stairway To Heaven on almost every top rock songs of all time countdowns. I cannot disagree. Great song with classic twin lead guitars just jammin' at the end until you get the chills.) Never gets old. RIP Ronnie.
3. Sammy Hagar - Mas Tequila (I defy you not to desire a party after hearing this. And Sammy's Cabo Wabo Tequila is some good stuff!! Ahhh...to be in Cabo right now.) Since he's about to turn 65 is few days I guess I can leave "party with Sammy Hagar" on my bucket list. Been a fan since '73.
4. Candlebox - You (one of the hit songs off their great first album. I hadn't heard this one in a while but it made me listen to several other songs as I rode my exercise bike tonight.) If you haven't heard them before give 'em a try.
5. Jars Of Clay - Flood (Christian rock band from Tennessee with perhaps their biggest hit. Great song)
I am nothing if not diverse and non-denominational in my music.
All these familiar to you? Any favorites? Would you want to party with Sammy?
Holy shit! Two days ago it was 89 outside and today it's 50!!! It is kind of funny watching people out in public on the first couple days of the weather change. They really can't decide how to dress. I saw people today dressed in hoodies, sweats, and sandals (forgetting the basic physics that heat rises). I saw others in hoodies, shorts, army type boots (this could be their year-round style though). Women in jackets, hats, shorts and knee-high boots (no wait...those were hookers). Meh...it was funny to me.
Now here is something funny for YOU!! This weeks graphs.
I like shooting through various types of metal fencing material. It is a challenge to get all the focus just right as the camera likes to sometimes hit on the fence material and render the background out of focus or vice versa. This one turned out as one of the best that day.
